Nestled between Mitredale and Muncaster Fell, The Bower House Inn is a charming coaching inn dating back to 1751. For over 250 years, The Inn has welcomed guests who have travelled to Eskdale to sample the delights of one of the most beautiful areas of the Lake District.

Close to Scafell Pike – England’s highest mountain. And Wastwater – England’s deepest lake, also boasting England’s smallest church. The Bower House is ideally situated to take full advantage of these stunning surroundings.

Our current opening times; 

Mon – Sat; 12.30pm – 2.30pm & 4.30pm – 8.30pm
Sunday; 12pm – 8.30pm
Bar open everyday from 12pm – 10pm

Please note; booking is very strongly advised at this time.

As per the government guidelines, congregating in standing groups on our premises will not be allowed, therefore very few walk-ins will be accepted & you must stay within your own group.

Face coverings are now compulsory for both customers & staff, you must wear a covering at all times in our public areas, unless you are seated at a table.
If you are exempt, please let us know and please do not be offended if we ask you.

We will be offering table service only for both food & drinks.

We will also have to take and keep contact details from every person that walks into our premises, in case of a outbreak within our hotel.
